Artistic Directors / Choreographer's 2003 - 2005: Jodie-Anne and Boris Bivona

Boris and Jodie-Anne are a youthful husband and wife team who bring with them the knowledge and experience of each having over ten years as professional dancers with prestigious Australian and European ballet companies. Their teaching and choreography credits are similarly impressive.

Boris Bivona
Born in Italy Boris studied ballet in his hometown before taking the third year of training at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne in 1989. He started working in Bordeaux France and from 1992 he was a soloist with a number of dance companies in London, Brno in the Czech Republic, Salzburg Austria and later in Germany and Italy.

He has danced in prestigious European theatres (Sadler's Wells, Arena in Verona) and has toured extensively North and South America and throughout the UK and Europe.

Most recently Boris has guested as Principal Dancer in an International Gala in Umbria Italy with the Balletto del Sud where he performed the technically very challenging "Bluebird" in The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker pas de deux. During his career Boris has danced a vast repertoire ranging from pure classicals through last century's most famous choreographers (Balanchine, Ashton) to today's most innovative dance theatre and contemporary techniques.

Jodie-Anne White Bivona

She was much awarded in several disciplines as her training and early experience took her through such eminent institutions as the Kathleen Gorham National Theatre, the Victorian College of the Arts and the National Ballet School in Australia.

Having just been awarded first place in the Australian Commonwealth Cup, Jodie-Anne entered and danced with the Australian Ballet from 1987 to 1990 under the direction of Maina Gielgud. She toured with the Company to Asia, Russia, Greece, England and America. Her repertoire included the major classics as well as performing works from choreographers such as Jiri Kylian, Maurice Bejart and Kenneth McMillan.

As a soloist her career continued overseas with her acceptance into the Weiner Ballet Theatre followed by seasons with the Brno National Ballet in Czech Republic, Theatre Vorpommern Griefswald in Germany and several other English and Italian companies. During this time she performed in works such as Carmen, Cinderella, Peer Gynt and several contemporary pieces. From 1999 through 2001, Jodie-Anne performed as Principal Soloist with the Balletto del Sud in Italy and finally Principal with Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste Italy where she continues to return regularly to guest with the company.
The teaching and choreography skills of Boris and Jodie-Anne have been honed through work both individually and together in America, Europe and Australia.
